General Club Information
Greetings to all Members,
This is the first Club Newsletter I have put together and it probably shows as it is somewhat late and a little shy on new information. I would like to thank Ian Vercoe for his assistance and guidance in getting this completed. We have some wheels-in-motion to accelerate the information flow to Members, but this will take a couple of months to come up to speed as I am about to depart for a 6-week holiday in the Northern Territory and Western Australia. During my absence if there is anything urgent that needs to go out to members Harry will send an Email out to everyone.
Craig Wilkinson is now the Club Newsletter Editor. If Members have any information they would like included in the newsletter please contact Craig on 021 127 0470 or email craigandflynn@gmail.com
Club Member Norm Moreton has suggested having a Buy, Sell & Exchange section in the Newsletter – this will be limited to 4WD vehicles and related equipment. Listings will be available shortly – contact Craig if you have any items for sale or looking to purchase.
Finally, your Committee would like to have a BIG Shout-Out to Members Trevor and Rose at Waitaki Heavy Vehicle Maintenance for sponsoring the purchase of a new Personal Locator Beacon for the Club. Our current PLB had reached the end of its designated life, so we were duty bound to replace this. Trevor & Rose negotiated the supply of a new PLB and then donated it to the Club. A BIG Thank You from all Members.
I look forward to catching up with Members on my return in mid-September.
Cheers,
Russell Marr,
Club Information Officer.

Trip Report - Banks Peninsula Tour, 19/20 July 2025
The last pickup point was Little River where we had lunch and the eighteen strong convoy headed into the rain and low cloud, onto Bossu Road. We travelled for some distance before dropping out of the clag, passing French Farm, Barry's Bay and joining State Hwy 75 through Duvauchelle, arriving at Akaroa at 3.30pm.
Our dinner was at The Grand Hotel, Akaroa, a memorable meal for those who had fish. We were lucky, enough to be seated in front of a big screen and all watched the All Blacks/French test.
Sunday morning, we gathered at 8am, a beautiful frosty morning with not a cloud to be seen. We headed up Long Bay Road to Summit Road then down to Le Bons Bay, onto Okains Bay Campground for morning tea, to Little Akaloa, Pigeon Bay, Port Levy, Purau, Diamond Harbour to Teddington. At Teddington our Trip Leader and others departed while the rest of us had our lunch before heading home. For us passengers the Sunday scenery was breathtaking.
Thanks to our Trip Leader and Tail End Charlie for putting the weekend together. Hopefully we can go back again and repeat our Saturday and find more treasures in the area.
