Hi everybody,

Spring time for 2019 is upon us. Time to energise and enjoy the spring flowers, slightly longer daylight hours with daylight saving and warmer weather. As to the warmer weather - not so sure about that.

However in the last 2 months club members have enjoyed a great social gathering by way of a tour of Dot's castle at Riverstone followed by a lunch stop at an 'undisclosed' location - the Waitaki Waters Holiday Park.

Ron Pringle organised an offroad trip onto Matt Gibson's property at Kinross, north west of Palmerston.

A big thank you to Stan and Ron for organising these events.

Photos from Shirley Taylor and Russell Thompson have been added to the club web site.

Trip reports are published after each event, however to date I am yet to recieve any reports for the 2 recent events.

I would like to wish Stan a full recovery from his current chemotherapy treatment. We look forward to seeing you out and about as soon as you are well.

Regards Ian Vercoe - Club Treasurer

Hi everyone
This is a short report on behalf of our President Stan. We all wish you a speedy recovery from your treatment.

Over the winter we have struggled to put together trips, some of which unfortunately have have not come off for various reasons.

Thanks to Stan and Jennifer for organising the tour of Dot's Castle at Riverstone and the post tour lunch at the Waitaki Waters Holiday park.

Our thanks go out to Ron Pringle for a very well organised trip to Matt Gibsons property 'Kinross'. I have heard that everyone who went enjoyed it immensley.

We have no trips for October but have 2 trips organised for November.

The first trip is on the Tuesday 5th of November in the Mt Domett area. The club is assisting a St Johns fundraiser event orgainised by a film production company.

Please advise me (Les) on (03) 434 2367 if you intend taking part

The second trip is to Arrowsmith Station on Saturday 23rd November and on Sunday 24th November a short jaunt up to Erewhon Station - as detailed under trip info please contact Pam Phaup of your intentions to attend - (03) 688 2330

The December xmas trip will be held on 8th of December.
The intention is to return to the Vickers hut located in the Dunback area.

Our club relies on landowner contacts for access to properties, the committee welcome input from members who have contact with owners of properties that can offer great trips.

On the subject of 'maintenance of equipment' - using my tow strop to pull unwanted shrubs from the garden I unfortunately learnt from not adhering to the motto on tow strops.. 'if its frayed - throw it away'. I now have a bumper repair job to do on the front of our Suzuki Vitara along with buying a new tow strop.

Les Weir - Club Vice President

Ron Pringle (Club trip co-ordinator) led a group of members in 14 vehicles south to Palmerston turning right heading up the pigroot.

From the photographs it looked like the participants enjoyed a great day. 1 member got to try some winching and another member enjoyed a free tow....!!
