Combined Clubs Weekend - 23rd - 24th March - Alexandra
Saturday the 23rd of March 2024
Grade 2
At this stage we are looking to run a Pisa range trip with Mark as first leg leader from roaring Meg up over the top to where Ben will take over and lead us down out via the Queensberry track (hoping to get access out with Ben to confirm with the landowner).
If access can not be gained via Queensberry then we will try for the Snow Farm which may include a cost of $20 per truck for road maintenance.
Sunday the 24th March 2024
Grade 2 - 3 ???
Sunday's plan is to do Cluden station via the Highway at the Cluden hill exit to the Cluden track at 0900hrs.
The track drops off the Highway to the Cluden River – where there is a choice of crossing by a bridge or ford
This first piece of track up the valley through Cluden Station and past the rock quarry
Should take about 30mins drive to the locked gate entrance to the Conservation Area
the perfect morning tea stop – flat ground sufficient for 26 – 28 vehicles – hills to climb and take photos from.
From here we head through the gate and start our climb through pasture land to tussock country, then to those high altitude prickly Spaniards we were rewarded with views back across to Queensberry and further on at 1300 meters and climbing to 1500 meters.
at around 1130am we stop and have the option of driving down into the hut
at the bottom of the valley – with room for up to 20 vehicles maximum
From here we should max out at around approximately 1620 meters before making our
descent 3kms down to Lauder Station and the Manuherikia Valley On the lower faces as we make our way to the flats below
We should pass through the locked gate at 1430hrs Lauder Station.
